Description of Office
The Oscoda County Prosecutor is an elected official and serves a four-year term of office as mandated by the Michigan Constitution, however the current Prosecuting Attorney – Kristi McGregor – was assigned the position in January of 2019 due to the departure of Casandra Morse-Bills who was elected to the position of Presiding Judge.

Statement of Purpose
To seek justice for the citizens of Oscoda County by enforcing the law fairly, holding lawbreakers accountable for their actions and protecting the rights of the innocent.
Duties of the Prosecuting Attorney
- Reviewing, authorizing, and prosecuting felonies and misdemeanors for the State of Michigan against adult and juvenile offenders before District, Circuit and Family Division Courts.
- Providing victims of crime assistance throughout the prosecution of cases.
- Filing child support cases and establishing child support orders.
- Working with and advising the Department of Health and Human Services on child abuse, neglect, and parental rights termination matters.
- Filing paternity cases and establishing paternity orders.
- Attending contested mental health commitment hearings.
- Representing the County in forfeiture actions.
